• Injury: In DartMUD, your player character sustains damage in a more realistic way than the classical Hit Point system. Rather than taking damage out of a large pool of hit points, his hit points are divided between the parts of his body. If his leg is damaged or destroyed, he can no longer walk, if his head is damaged, he can fall unconscious or even die.

  • Permadeath: Death is a meaningful, and somewhat common, event in DartMUD. If your player character dies, his soul will linger over his corpse until he is healed and resurrected by a powerful healer, or until his corpse rots away or is destroyed by other means, in which case your player character will be truely dead.
During his adventures, your player character may find an item that will house his soul outside of his body when he dies. This can become a powerful, yet not absolute, safety measure against permadeath.
