pThere are two mail systems: the IC (in character) mail system and the OOC (out of character) mail system.
pbIC MAIL/b
pThe IC mail system functions very much like real life snail mail. You write a letter or wrap a package and take it to a post office where you pay to have it delivered to someone at another (or the same) post office. That post office will then hold the item until the person comes to claim it. (Use icheck mail/i to claim your mail.) If the item is not picked up within several (game) months, it will be sent to the dead letter office, where it may or may not ever be seen again.
pYou may have a post office forward your mail to another office, for a fee. Go to the office and iforward to other_office/i. If you wish, you may istop forwarding/i at any time.
pDelivery takes time, depending on the distance between the offices to and from which you're mailing. The price of delivery also depends on the distance. Letters typically cost just a few pennies. Packages typically cost a couple moons per pound. Some post offices charge higher rates.
pTo write a letter please refer to ihelp parchment/i. To send a package, simply put the item in a box (available at the post office) and close the box.

pbOOC MAIL/b
pThe OOC mail system functions like email. Delivery is instantaneous and you may reply, forward and cc with ease. All messages are automatically saved until you choose to delete them.
pThe OOC post office is in the OOC area which has entrances near the IC post office in most major cities.
pYou are required to use the IC mail system for all game-related matters. OOC mail is a privilege which may be revoked. If you abuse the OOC mail system by sharing game information which benefits you or harms others, you will be subject to any of the normal modes of punishment.
