As you travel through the lands of Ferdarchi, you will quickly learn that money is a very important part of life. This is because, as in real life, you will need money to buy food, among other services. Establishments run by other adventurers may extend credit to you, but the natives are typically less forgiving. You can obtain money by selling goods which you produce or obtain to any merchant who will accept them. Loans may be available from other adventurers. You may also find money which someone has carelessly dropped. Or, you may become a thief...
The monetary system used in Ferdarchi was designed to simulate currency used in medieval times. Accordingly, all money is coins. Carrying money will become a problem if you do not have a purse or moneybag. Any carryable or wearable container can be used as a repository for your wealth. By typing "set moneybag to object", all money that you get or give out will be directed into and out of the specified container. Also, if the container is an approved moneybag, (eg. moneybag, pouch, hoku shi) it will remain with you even if you log off, complete with any money inside at the time. If it is not an approved bag, or is not set, and you log off or are disconnected in a crash *you will lose your money*. You can only have one moneybag set at a time, and having more than one is guaranteed to confuse you. Bags are easy to come by, so if you don't find one right away, don't worry, someone will probably give you one.
Banks are supplied for your convenience. Since coins are made out of metal, and metal is heavy, you will get weighed down very quickly if you carry your entire life savings around with you. Also, thieving is so prevalent in the more populous cities that it has almost become a respected practice. If you put your money in a bank, it will be relatively safe there, although this is an age before the FDIC. A small fee will be charged for all transactions with a bank. On very rare occasions, and with very successful banks, you might even earn some interest on the money. Money remains in your bank account, even while you log off.
You may find that your currency will not be accepted everywhere that you travel in the lands of Ferdarchi. Different currency is circulated on each contient, so a smart adventurer would do well to learn the exchange rats and to befriend local money changers or bankers. The two main currencies in common circulation are the Ferdarchian (based on the old Eristan coinage) and the Tirachian.

In most cases, money is interchangable. That is, if an item is listed as costing 1 sun, don't panic if you only have 3 groats, they'll work fine. You can usually get change, too.
