The Thorpian months are named after the colors of the magical spectrum: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, and Octarine.

The names of the days of the week are rowan words, which roughly translate as "first day", "second day" etc. They are: Flic, Ic, Mla, Orl, Dri, Sic, Lor, and Cim. The two days of the weekend, Lor and Cim, are days of meditation and fasting.
