Creatorship
Creators maintain and add to the world of DartMUD.
Occasionally, additional creators are hired, when there is both a need for new creators and staff available to provide mentoring.
Any player may apply for creatorship at any time. Applications will be considered, and if they are qualified, kept on file until the next hiring session.
A successful candidate should have the following qualities:
A good command of written English language.
At least 6 months of experience as a Dartmud player.
A love of the game, as evidenced by their contributions to the game while a player.
No recent history of cheating or unethical behavior.
Accurate and up-to-date e-mail and name registration on file.
Creativity.
Maturity.
Ability to work as a team player.
Willingness and ability to learn.
Other roleplaying game experience.
Computer programming experience.
Warped sense of humor.
Ability to pretty much get along with the incumbent staff.
Applications may be submitted by mudmail to any active creator. You will want to include your relevant experience, an explanation of your areas of interest, and a suggestion for a project to attempt as a probationary creator.
Remember, your application represents you, much like a resume and cover letter for a job application. As such, it should be fairly formal, well formatted, and thoroughly proofread. Poorly composed applications will be immediately rejected.
Probationary creators are expected to complete a project, usually a small area, and the objects and NPCs which inhabit it, often with some sort of a quest theme. Other staff members will provide teaching and mentoring during the probationary period.
This provides an opportunity for the probationer to learn how to code, and for the administration to determine the probationer's potential to become a member of the staff.
