Ooc area

OOC Area Glossary: OOC = out of character IC = in character IRL = in real life To facilitate OOC discussion and remove it from the remainder of the game, an OOC Area has been provided. While in the OOC Area, you may not perform most of the actions of the game, such as combat, magic, stealth, etc. You will not get hungry while in OOC, but you can still heal or hurt yourself. You may not enter the OOC area if you have recently been in combat or stolen from someone. While it is possible to enter the OOC area to avoid pursuit, it is generally considered cowardice and cheating, and will in general tend to have a negative outcome for you. Discussion of IC matters is discouraged in the OOC area. Also, you will want to read the plaque which is prominently displayed in the hallway.

The OOC Area may be entered near the post office in most major population centers. It is provided with a variety of bulletin boards on which OOC subject matter may be posted. The boards are as follows: Chat - OOC chat and friendly discussion. Usually used to announce IRL departures from the mud, births, deaths, marriages, parties or conventions, that sort of thing. Discussion - discussion of things internal to the game, but which require OOC statements. Usually used for brainstorming about ideas, whining about cheating, and so forth. Ideas - ideas for things to be implemented by creators. Available to the public for purposes of brainstorming. Bugs - Write Only - used to notify creators of bugs in the game. Players are not able to read or erase posts on this board.

Complaints - Write Only - whine here if it makes you feel good. Announcements - Posts from creators, usually used for announcement of major changes in the game structure, or to announce other notable creatorial interventions. Mage Board - Discussion of magic in the game which requires OOC subject matter. IC subject matter may be posted on the board which is near the Mage's Guild in Eristan.

Combat - Discussion about combat in the game which requires OOC subject matter. IC subject matter may be posted on the Fighters' Guild board in Eristan.

Anonymous - Anonymous OOC discussion. Creators can still see who posted notes, players can not. Usually used for discussion of things that you want to discuss OOC without having everyone know that you're up to something, like quests, thievery, and ways to make money. Praises and Congratulations - thank or acknowledge another player or a creator for whatever they did to make you happy.

Confidential - report rules violations, or anything else you only want creators to read. OOC Helpfile, 11/97 by Raven
