Liquids
Liquids in Ferdarchi act much like you'd expect liquids to. They don't stay put outside of a container, you can drink them, pour them between containers, pour them onto the ground or onto things or people (although people might object to getting liquids poured on them).
If a container with a liquid in it is transparent, or it is open, you can see what is in it and also refer to it by the various names the liquid has.
For example: a bucket of goat's milk
Can be refered to as bucket, milk, goat's milk or even goat milk. On the other hand, a barrel which is closed might be full of something but you can't tell what is in it and you can only refer to it as barrel or keg. Note that you can use the normal object references with liquids as well, such as water 2 or (held) bucket.
Manipulating liquids
There are two commands to move liquids around: pour and fill. These both have various syntaxes for use, see the help for each of them.
In general, with the pour command, you have to hold the object you are pouring from unless it has a tap (see below) or is a bucket attached to a well. You can even pour a liquid from a container you are holding into a container someone else is holding (unless that person has notake on). When you pour, the relative sizes of the openings of each of the containers is compared. If the opening of the container you are pouring from is bigger than the one you are pouring to, you'll spill some. A spout or tap on the container will solve this problem.
The fill command is normally used if you are holding the container you want to fill. It will only work if the container you are trying to fill from has an opening big enough to accept the container you are trying to fill, or if the source container has a tap. You can also use a ladle to transfer liquids between containers you are not holding, just hold the ladle and fill one container from the other.
To drink a liquid, you usually need to be holding the container, or the container needs to have an opening big enough for you to stick your head into it and slurp some up.
The basic drink command will take a single swallow based on your size. You can also use sip (which drinks about half as much), quaff (which drinks about twice as much), or guzzle (which drinks about four times as much), or you can specify an amount (e.g. drink 5 ounces of water). The chug command will either drain the container or drink as much as you can hold, whichever comes first.
Some liquids (such as soup) can be eaten, but you must be holding a spoon. If you don't have a spoon, you'll have to pick up the container and drink it.
Containers
There is a wide variety of containers for liquids. Barrels, casks, buckets, bowls, pots, flagons, mazers (see 'define mazer'), tankards, jacks and (metal) goblets are all craftable. In addition there are various bottles, jugs, pitchers and amphorae. Some containers can be opened and closed and some of these might require a tool to open.
Kegs, barrels and casks can also have a tap installed. A tap is a wooden faucet like device that is plugged into a hole in the container. This will allow you to draw liquid from the barrel (using either fill or pour) into a container you are holding.
Casks are special barrels designed to store liquids. They are permanent objects and do not need to be placed in a storage room.
Water Sources
There are a number of water sources around the land. Wells, fountains, pools rivers, lakes, streams etc. Many of these show only in the room description, but you can still fill containers or drink from them. In addition, you can fill or drink from rivers, lakes and the ocean in hexes when standing next to them.
