So you wish to farm, do you? Well say no more, child of the city, I can tell you all you need to know.
To prepare yourself for the tasks ahead of, learn of the plants that will be your friend and foe. I cannot simply spread this knowlege by word of mouth, you must obtain it by entering a proper field and EXAMINEing the CROP. Their appearance may be a bit perplexing at first, but soon you will understand them. You should also CRAFT CROP SEEDS to learn of their anatomy and, if you are skilled enough, extract the seeds intact.
When you feel you are ready to raise your own crop, first find a field free of other crops and WEED it. Weeds are your enemy, and will destroy your crop if allowed to remain in great numbers. The weeding process is a difficult one for most, and taxes your willpower quickly. For those of you lacking enough knowlege of the wily ways of the weeds, the attempt may leave you with naught but a sore back.
Once the weeds have been reduced sufficiently, you may PLANT or SOW the CROP SEEDS that you have acquired. Only one type of crop may be planted per field, and seeds cannot be planted in the presence of immature crop.
While the plant matures, it may be necessary to weed from time to time. Beware of overweeding though, for once weeds are reduced to a certain fraction of the whole, it becomes more difficult to remove them without destroying some of your crop. If you find yourself doing so, it may be time to STOP WEEDING.
Once the plants have "mature"d and bear "mature crop", you may HARVEST a PERCENTAGE. From the fruits of your labor, you should craft enough seed to replace that which you used, and the rest of the crop is up to you to consume or distribute.
Of course, as I am farmer myself, I have not told you everything that you will need to know in order to become a successful competitor. This public forum is not the proper place for that information. Ask around. There is sure to be many a farmer willing to help you personally once they trust you.
