Hunting

Hunting

Syntax: hunt animal [or animal or animal..] hunt any hunt game

Hunting is the activity of going out and looking for an animal until you are close enough to kill it. The wilderness has a lot more animals than you see when simply walking through; hunting gives you the opportunity to go out and search for them.

You don't need any tools to hunt, although it pays to be prepared for a confrontation with any dangerous animal you may run into. Also don't forget that even when you find your prey, you still have to kill it, and it might not be very happy that you've disturbed it.

You may search for a specific animal ("hunt fox"), or any number of them ("hunt fox or bear"). You may hunt only for animals that are usualy considered game, such as rabbits or deer ("hunt game"). Finally, you can walk the wilderness, trying to catch any and all animals you may encounter ("hunt any").

The hunting process itself consists of three stages; first you look for clues of the animal. Once you find them, you follow them until you find the animal. At this point, the animal may run, in which case you must pursue it and try to catch it.

Searching for animals that are common is easier than searching for rarer animals. Also remember that the higher the density of the terrain, the more animals that live there. And naturaly, some terrain types (such as woods) harbour more animal life than others (like desert). The easiest way to hunt is probably "hunt any", and that's how hunters get started. After you grow in skill, try looking for common animals in easy terrains; for example, rabbits in the plains. After that, use your common sense.

Sometimes, you may find that the clues of a certain animal lead out of the area. In such a case it's wise to search the nearby areas of the same terrain, until you find the animal. This will happen with animals that are very rare, either naturaly or because they've been hunted a lot. Also bear in mind that a lot of movement scares the animals away.
