Jousting

Jousting:

Attitudes among jousting: Certain commands will take an attitude as argument. This is to reflect the varying moods with which a jouster can do things. The attitudes are: meekly, rudely, quietly, humbly, boldly, mockingly, and politely

You will always default to politely in a case when no attitude is given. I recommend you experiment and find ones that will suit you and the mood you are in.

Jousting commands:

  • - For inviting, declining, and accepting jousts. * invite person - This will invite a person to joust with you. * accept attitude - This will accept a joust invitation with a certain attitude. You must be holding a jousting lance to accept an invitation. * decline attitude - This will decline a joust invitation with a certain attitude. You must be holding a jousting lance to decline an invitation.

  • - After a joust invitation has been accepted. * ready for joust - Once you have accept an invitation and have a shield, a lance, and some sort of mount, you can ready for the joust. This will make you move to an open spot of ground to prepare. Note that you can only ready for a joust in the wilderness or in special areas designed for jousting.
  • - After readying for a joust. * show jousting - With this command you can show how you plan to handle your current joust. Each time you joust you will have to set your choices again, but this will help you keep track. * position shield to location - Here you can decide where to hold your shield high, low, or middle when the joust is underway. By out thinking your opponent you can gain a slight advantage by positioning your shield to deflect their lance. * aim lance to location - Here you can decide where to aim your lance high, low, or middle when the joust is underway. By out thinking your opponent you can gain a slight advantage by aiming your lance to best hit their shield. * urge mount to speed - One of the most important things in jousting is deciding how fast to have your mount go during the joust. Speeds can be from walk, slow, moderate, fast, charge. While the faster speeds will allow you a better chance to unseat your opponent, an unskilled rider may inadvertently cause their mount to go slower if they urge it too fast. * joust attitude - This command tells your opponent that you are set to joust and if they have already set themselves the joust will begin now. * withdraw from joust - This allows you to leave from being ready for a joust. Note that it is not considered honourable to leave a joust after an opponent has met you on the field.

  • - While Jousting * withdraw - This command exists only for complications that may arise from jousting. If you think something is amiss when you are jousting and it doesn't terminate normally then use this command. This will write to my personal logs and I may ask you what exactly happened. Note this is only the case of bugs and should never be used for a quick way out of jousting.
