Pilfer skill allows several types of sleight of hand tricks. The first and most obvious of these is normal pilfering. Command format:
pilfer obj ; stealthfully pick up an item off the ground pilfer obj from con ; take object from container on ground pilfer obj from con on per ; take object from person's container ; obj may be "item" or "coins". "coins" ; means you grab whatever coins you find, ; "item" means you grab a random item
The next option is planting objects in places. Command format: plant obj ; stealthfully place item on the ground plant obj in con ; put item in container on ground plant obj in con on per ; plant object in person's container
You can also open and close people's bags with pilfer skill. Format: pilfer con open ; sneak container on ground open pilfer con closed ; close it pilfer con on per open ; sneak container on person open pilfer con on per closed ; close it
Note: In all instances, per can be your name, or the word "me". This allows you to e.g. draw weapons silently, put things in your backpack silently, open your moneybag silently, etc.
You will probably want to make aliases for some of these commands. e.g. 'alias pil pilfer coins from bag on %1' will let you steal coins from someone's bag by typing, for example, 'pil bob'

Pilfer users will probably find it a lot more difficult to succeed at your existing skill level. However, you should also find that you are easily able to improve past your previous plateau.
I strongly suggest you not use pilfer for anything mission critical until you get a feel for it and improve your skill as necessary.
